Diesel Fuel Spill Prompts Hazmat at Hillcrest Medical Facility

The diesel fuel spilled at Vibra Hospital, a long-term acute care center at Washington Street and Fifth Avenue.

At least 20 gallons of diesel fuel overflowed at a medical center in Hillcrest Monday according to officials.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue Hazardous Materials team was called to Vibra Hospital, a long-term acute care center at Washington Street and Fifth Avenue just before noon.

The medical center received a diesel fuel delivery this morning for a generator. The fuel spilled into a storm drain and some lower levels of the building.

Battalion Chief Grace Yamane said the spill was quickly contained and did not require officials to evacuate the building.
