Mexico and Brazil Settle for Tie in World Cup Match

Mexico soccer fans came out in full force Tuesday to cheer on the team’s World Cup game against Brazil.

Sorry fans: The game turned out to be a draw. Despite a number of near goals from both sides, Mexico and Brazil tied 0-0.

At Shakespeare’s Pub in Mission Hills, some of the most die-hard fans had even called in sick to work to catch the midday game. And judging from the color of choice among the pub crowd, 99 percent were rooting for Mexico.

Before the game even started, fans were calling it a Mexico win. One fan believed that since Mexico beat Brazil in the Olympics, the team could surely do it again. Another fan agreed, saying Mexico could easily beat Brazil.

Still, there were a few Brazil fans. Jose Equihua knew he was numbered.

"As you can see all around you, there's all Mexicans, my heritage," he said. "But I'm actually rooting for Brazil this year so they can take it home."
