Puzzled by a rising number of car thefts, law enforcement authorities in Lemon Grove swept the area Tuesday for people on probation or parole who may have been responsible for the crimes.

As a result of the operation, four people were arrested on four different felony charges, including weapons and drug violations, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The operation spawned from an uptick in auto thefts, a statement from the department read.

Detectives and special purpose deputies identified 22 people on probation or parole in the City of Lemon Grove and unincorporated Spring Valley. Those individuals had a history of auto-theft related crimes.

Tuesday morning, the team of law enforcement officials conducted their operation.

One of the arrests was directly related to a previous stolen vehicle case.
