A man taken into custody following Monday's destructive apartment fire in Chula Vista has been booked into jail on several charges, officials confirm.
Meanwhile, investigators are looking into the possibility that the explosion inside the complex at 4th Avenue and Naples Street was caused by someone making illegal or dangerous weapons.

Devices discovered at the scene of an apartment fire in Chula Vista on Monday possibly point to explosives being involved in the incident, a source from the Chula Vista Police Department (CVPD) told NBC 7.
David Wasson, 32, has been booked into central jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence of drugs and providing false identification to a police officer.
CVPD Fritz Reiber said Wasson was arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant with San Diego Police from July. Wasson was living in the apartment but he wasn't the primary resident, police said.
Arson investigators were working on whether the fire was started on accident in the process of using dangerous substances or was an intentional act.

They're also trying to identify what the dangerous substance is, to see whether Wasson was trying to make a weapon, Reiber said.
Two people were treated for burns, including Wasson.
Residents in 24 units were not permitted to return to their apartments. The local Red Cross secured hotel rooms for 16 people while the rest are staying with family and friends.
The Seawind Apartment complex is about a block from the Northgate Market.
