San Diego Gas & Electric crews will repair damage to a natural gas pipeline that prompted the evacuation of more than 200 people for more than 20 hours.
Workers located the leak and spent most of Tuesday night replacing approximately 80 to 100 feet of damaged pipe. Repairs were estimated to be finished by 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Once that's done, SDG&E will send technicians to each home to complete a safety check of gas appliances and re-ignite pilot lights, the utility said Tuesday.

The leak was first detected Monday night on Bacon Street near Santa Cruz Avenue. An SDG&E technician reported finding a 70 percent gas reading near a sewer cover.
Residents were ordered to evacuate and warned not to turn on their stoves, light candles or smoke.
