Stolen LAPD Car Crashed Into Starbucks in Mid-City Area

The driver crashed the car, stolen in South LA, into the shop at La Brea and San Vicente

A man who stole a police car in South Los Angeles crashed into a Starbucks coffee shop Friday in the Mid-City area, prompting a crash investigation that is expected to result in a closure on La Brea Avenue near San Vicente Boulevard during the morning drive.

The crash occurred at about 4 a.m. near 1298 S. La Brea Avenue (MAP).

The suspect, the only person injured in the crash, was hospitalized. Details regarding the suspect's condition were not immediately available.

Aerial video showed vehicle wreckage and damage to the front of the Starbucks.

La Brea Avenue will remain closed near San Vicente Boulevard during the investigation.

The car was stolen as police conducted an investigation near La Brea and Adams Friday morning.

The driver was not involved in a pursuit at the time of the crash.
