Cutca Fire on Palomar Mountain Update

No growth overnight in the fire on Palomar Mountain

Crews battling the Cutca Fire in the Clevelan National Forest north of San Diego say there was no new growth overnight.

The fire that broke out Friday afternoon has burned 167 acres in steep inaccessible terrain along a canyon about two miles away from the Palomar Observatory.

As of Tuesday morning, the fire was 75 percent contained with no new acreage burned. Fire officials expect full containment by midnight tonight.

No structures were threatened as of Monday. Campgrounds remained open.
