Cupcake Craze Continues in North County

There’s nothing like a sweet treat, right? Well, judging by rave reviews from Yelp users, it’s clear that North San Diego boasts some of the best bakeries in the county. This week, check out our list of North County businesses that patrons are sweet on:

Little Cakes Cupcake Kitchen (30 Main St., Suite 180, Vista):
The two-time “Cupcake Wars” winner wows the community with their distinct flavors and authentic Italian buttercream frosting. Rotating daily, cupcake selections could include creations like “lemon lavender berry” or “peanut butter & jelly." Of course, you’ll also find tasty basics such as vanilla, chocolate and red velvet every day, too. Doors open at 11:00 a.m.

Goody Cottage and Goodyvan (539 Carlsbad Village Dr., Suite 103, Carlsbad):
This local shop and mobile dessert truck has achieved 5-star Yelp perfection. Sneak in for a sugar high – the cozy nook can be found next to Pizza Port’s bottle shop in the courtyard behind the Eve 7 boutique. The “caramel machiatto” is to die for and don’t forget the traveling “Goodyvan.” Keep your eyes peeled for that on-the-go goodness.

2Good2B Bakery & Café (204 N. El Camino Real, Suite H, Encinitas):
This place is made for our gluten-free foodies. Locals claim you can’t even tell the difference in these delicious, gluten-free baked goods, which are baked daily in assorted flavors including coconut, carrot, vanilla and chocolate with sweet and perfect buttercream or ganache frostings. The full service café is open 7 days a week to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Elizabethan Desserts (114 N. El Camino Real, Encinitas):
New digs that you should definitely check out, but the same decadent bites you know and love. Yelpers rave about the “Rasmary’s Baby” cupcake – a chocolate cake topped with a raspberry buttercream. And, to sweeten the deal? It’s even dipped in dark chocolate and topped with a fresh raspberry.

Truly, Madly, Sweetly (40754 Winchester Rd., Temecula):
Fall truly, madly, sweetly in love with this local bakery. They’ve got tasty treats like the “hummingbird” – fresh banana, pineapple and pecans in a vintage spice cupcake topped with rich cream cheese frosting. Or, how about the perfect Sunday brunch? In cake form! Try the “short stack:” A pure, maple-flavored cupcake with buttercream and bacon.
