A brush fire sparked up Monday afternoon about 500 meters north of the Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital, authorities said.

The fire started at 2 p.m. and is moving north through heavy brush and oak fuels, according to the Camp Pendleton Fire Department.

The fire burned about four acres. It does not pose any threat to personnel and structures.

As of about 4:30 p.m., the fire was about 60 percent contained. Crews were conducting mop-up operations.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
