Crews Battle Small Brush Fire in El Cajon

Heartland Fire and Rescue crews are mopping up an El Cajon brush fire Monday afternoon that threatened multiple structures west of Gillespie Field.
Several fire engines responded to the fire, which broke out at about 1:45 p.m. at 2685 Windmill View Rd.
A fire helicopter dropped water on the brush fire while firefighters stood at the edge of one homeowner's yard, using hosing to contain the fire.
As of 2:20 p.m., crews appeared in control, pouring water on remnant hot spots along the hillside.
