Couple's Rings Stolen Just Months Before Their Wedding

A Mission Hills man and woman looking forward to their upcoming wedding are devastated after their home was burglarized and their wedding bands were stolen.

Mike Peterson returned home Monday night to see that his garage door had been pried open. When he went inside, he found his home ransacked.

He and his fiancee Laura Moncrieff are getting married in March. They said thousands of dollars of their valuables were stolen by the suspect, who is still outstanding.

In addition to their wedding bands, the suspect took electronics and family heirlooms.

"They were from my mother's uncle," Peterson told NBC 7 of the wedding bands. "Something like that is irreplaceable."

Moncrieff said she and her fiancee were trying to sell their house. She speculated that the suspect may have come through previously for a walk-through.

A neighbor's security camera captured the suspect as he was leaving the home with a bag full of their valuables.

"It feels like a big violation," Moncrieff said. "It's scary being home alone now."
