A fire at a home in El Cajon destroyed a Corvette and two other classic vehicles and caused significant damage to the structure.

The blaze began shortly before 9 a.m. at the house in the 1650 block of Grove Road near the city limits. Officials said that 30 firefighters and five engines were involved battling the flames.

A woman was home knitting at home when she hear a loud noise in the garage. She went out to the garage and saw that it was fully engulfed. The flames tore through the garage, damaging the 1989 Corvette as well as a just-restored 1962 Buick LeSabre and a 2000 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and may have gotten into the home's attic as well, causing additional damage.

Nobody was injured during the incident. There is no estimate yet on how much damage the fire caused.
