Man's Body Found in Rancho Santa Fe Driveway

Officers are probing a mystery involving a body and a Porsche wrecked nearly a half-mile away.

A prominent Del Mar veterinarian was found dead in the driveway of a home in Rancho Sante Fe, according to police.  Robert Stonebreaker, 53, apparently walked away after he crashed a Porsche Saturday night around 9:30 on Paseo Delicias, according to investigators. It appears that Stonebreaker may have lost control on a curve, then plunged down a 15-foot embankment.

Officials with the California Highway Patrol said that when they arrived, the driver was missing and that there was no blood apparent at the scene. Stonebreaker was found dead on Sunday morning in the driveway of a home less than half a mile from the crash.

The vet -- who is survived by his wife, Pam and their two daughters, Kristen and Kelly -- owned the Animal and Bird Hospital of Del Mar and FreeFlight, a boarding facility for birds.
