Units Damaged in Coronado Apartment Fire

Some tenants believe there may be a connection to several recent fires at one complex

Tenants living in a Coronado apartment building had to be evacuated when one unit caught fire early Wednesday.

Fire broke out in the Coronado Bay Club Apartments on First Street around 3 a.m..

Firefighters said the fire started inside the wall of a third-story apartment.

A lot of water flooded the units beneath the unit involved in the fire.

Tenants say they're suspicious because several other fires have been reported there recently.

One tenant Jennifer Lynn believes the fires may be connected to roofing repairs.

No cause has been determined for Wednesday’s fire.

“If they’ve had four of the same type of fires, there’s something to be fixed,” said Coronado Fire Chief Mike Blood.

No one was injured in the fire.

Several tenants were displaced but have been put up in empty units within the complex.
