Cops Respond to Possible Armed Suspect at Hospital

Authorities in Escondido responded to Palomar Hospital Monday afternoon, where a suspect potentially armed with a rifle was reported, police said.

Escondido Police received the report at about 4 p.m. Monday that the suspect was spotted at the old Palomar Hospital campus on E. Valley Parkway.

The suspect was described as a man with tattoos. He may have been carrying a rifle.

Officers searching the hospital were unsuccessful in locating the suspect. By 6 p.m., the hospital was celared after the search.

No injuries have been reported.

The hospital is also known as Palomar Health Downtown Campus.
