The wife of a hit and run victim is asking for the public to help find the driver responsible.

Eddie Costa went out for a quick bike ride Tuesday afternoon to get some fresh air and never returned home.

Costa's wife actually drove by the accident scene in the 2800 block of Alpine Road in Alpine.  She had no idea the man paramedics were trying to save was her husband. "I just thought to myself, someone's poor family, I had no idea it was mine," sobbed Kristine Costa. Her husband was air lifted to Sharp Memorial Hospital. He died of severe head trauma.

The couple has two sons, just two and ten. They've been married barely a year. "I just can't believe someone would do this and then just leave him here. He has two kids. It's just such a senseless act, " said Costa.

Family and friends gathered Wednesday afternoon at the crash site to put up fliers and photos of their loved one in the hope someone will come forward.

The thirty year old father was riding his bike eastbound when he was hit from behind. The driver sped up and took off. Police say the truck should have damage to the front portion of the grill including the right headlight assembly and right side mirror.

Nearby surveillance cameras captured the truck immediately before impact. Police say it's a white 2004, 2005, or 2006 Ford F-150 Super Crew pick up truck. It also has writing on the side.

Police are confident they will find the driver.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call California Highway Patrol in El Cajon at 619-401-2000.
