Cop Car Crashes into Out-of-Control Car

A car was driving so erratically through El Cajon that a police officer used his own patrol car to stop the driver.

El Cajon police got a call about a Toyota Tacoma with front-end damage weaving in and out of lanes on I-8 around 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers say the driver exited the highway at Broadway. Then, the Tacoma struck a hydrant outside the vitamin shop at 1500 Broadway, causing water to spew up to the roof and seep inside through the air conditioning ducts.

When the driver drove away from the crash, an officer rammed the Tacoma with his patrol car.

Officers took the 17-year-old driver into custody. Since the driver is a minor, officers would not release details on whether alcohol was involved.

No one was injured. There were no passengers in the truck.
