If you see any smoke or flames this weekend don’t worry -- prescribed burns are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday in the area of East Miramar, according to The Marine Corps Air Station Miramar (MCAS).
The Miramar Fire Department will conduct the burns in order to remove hazardous fuel growth.
The burns are a part of the air station’s annual vegetation-management program to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Smoke and flames may be visible in East Miramar, West Sycamore Canyon and in the Scripps Ranch community, and along the freeway corridors.
MCAS Miramar says no visibility restrictions are expected.
Crews create the fire by hand to selected areas of vegetation.
Prescribed burns are only conducted under specific conditions where favorable temperatures, humidity, winds and moisture are acceptable for burning.
