Community Support Needed for Marine Beach Bash

Vista women’s groups looking for help for their first military BBQ

A couple weeks ago, the City of Vista reached out to local groups in the city asking for support for Marine squadron HMLA-369 that the city had recently adopted.

The Women’s Club of Vista along with the Contemporary Women of North County were the only groups to step forward.

The women’s groups asked the Marines what they would like to celebrate their service and they asked for a beach bash to be held on June 27th.

The group started planning for the 150 Marines typically stationed at Camp Pendleton. That is until news came that more Marines would be back from Afghanistan and Iraq this summer; bringing that number up to 500 Marines.

The increase of participants has been a struggle for the group. The planning group has been able to get all of the food donated for the event but they would like to also send home each Marine with a small gift for all their service.

The group is asking for your help with monetary donations, gift cards or any businesses willing to offer a free service to the Marines.
