Comic-Con Preparations Underway in Gaslamp Quarter

It's the beginning of the home stretch for crews prepping for Comic-Con International, which is set to begin this Thursday.

What was once an event mainly exclusive to pass holders has spilled into the streets of the Gaslamp Quarter, peaking the interest of many.

"We certainly don't have anything like this over in the UK," Derrick Bevan said. "The scale of it is just crazy it's just kind of off the hook."

Bevin, who was in town visiting, was talking about the massive set up promoting a new show on Amazon Prime. It's a virtual reality experience where VIPs will get a chance to propel from a helicopter.

"We actually build a world for you, right?" the experience's creative director Brad Bell said. "Being able to go inside of it is totally different than just seeing a TV commercial."

The setup is already making people stop dead in their tracks. People like Dave Johnson, who is visiting from out of town.

"We saw Jack Ryan and the helicopter and all that kind of stuff and we thought, 'What is going on here? Are we filming? A movie set?'" he said.

With Comic-Con only three days away time is ticking for the crews to get things done with this virtual reality experience.
