Reasons for Padres Fans to Love Cleveland

Apparently some Cleveland fans took a little offense to my preview of the Padres-Indians series. You guys didn't like when I said: “What’s worse than starting the season 2-4? How about going to Cleveland in early April?”

So, what did Cleveland do? It went out and rained all day Monday, postponing the first game of the series until this afternoon.

But I don’t want Clevelanders to think I’m hating on your town. In fact, I’m a big fan – just maybe not in April. No offense, but it was 82 and sunny here yesterday.

Anyway, let me extend an olive branch and offer up some reasons why we love your fair city.

-- Ron Burgundy ain’t got nothing on Drew Carey.

-- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame … even if the only real rockers to come out of your town are Trent Reznor and the two guys from Guns ‘N Roses not named Axl or Slash. (Sorry, didn't mean to bring them up.)

-- Willie Mays Hayes. He runs like Mays, but he hits like ... well, you know.

-- John Rocker only pitched there for half a season.

-- LeBron James used to live there. Then he moved. But don’t feel bad. The Clippers used to live here. Then they moved too.

-- We have a lot of wildfires. But that’s nothing. You guys had a whole river catch fire.

-- You guys made the playoffs last year. For a game.

-- Halle Berry is a native. No really. We’re not even mad, we’re just impressed.

-- The Browns won the Super Bowl! Oh wait, that was the Ravens.

-- Cedar Point is the best amusement park in the country. And it doesn’t even have any whales.

-- The most awesome tourism video ever!
