One person is dead and three others were injured when a family of four crashed their car on southbound SR-125 at the H Street offramp. The car plunged about 30 feet down an embankment into a drainage runoff area.
"We had a little trouble finding where the vehicle was because of the location of it," one officer told NBC 7. "It was kind of hidden behind the trees and the brush down below."
Firefighters said they had to follow the tire tread marks from the highway to find the wreckage.
One victim has major injuries, and the other two have moderate injuries, according to the Chula Vista Police Department. The driver of the car, a man, was killed.
The crash happened just before 5 p.m. Sunday.
The cause of the crash has not been determined.
