Chula Vista Resident Killed in Fatal Rollover

A Chula Vista resident was killed in the city of Perris, Calif., Friday after driving his car off the roadway and into a drainage canal, Perris police confirmed.

According to authorities, the 22-year-old driver rolled his vehicle on Nuevo Road and Menifee Road around 1:30 a.m.

He sustained fatal injuries from the crash.

Police said a 19-year-old passenger from Oceanside was also in the car at the time of the accident and sustained minor injuries. The passenger was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.

The roadway was closed for hours as police investigated the scene.
