Change of Command at MCAS Miramar

Colonel John P. Farnam relinquished his command Friday of the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar.

Farnam talked about what his role has been since he took over command in 2012.

“My job here has been to provide a little bit of guidance and provide a long range goal that people could orient on and see and understand,” he said.

“All I needed to do was move obstacles out of the way and let the professionals who work here, let their brilliance pop out and let them do what they needed to do,” he added.

Colonel Jason Woodworth will take over command. He will assume the position of commanding officer after his assignment at the Royal College of Defense Studies in London.

Farnam is scheduled to retire from the Marine Corps.
