A detective accused of stealing drugs from an evidence room continues to receive pay from the Carlsbad Police Department, according to our media partner, the North County Times.

Employees of Detective Michael C. Koch witnessed the 18-year veteran with the department stealing drugs from the evidence room on Jan. 19, Chief Gary Morrison told NCT.

Well over a month later, the city continues to pay Koch about $7,200 per month in his salary.

Typically, city employees suspected of wrong-doing are placed on paid leave. After the investigation, the city takes action.
