Pedestrian Killed in Mountain View

Police said the fatal collision happened at Ocean View Boulevard Wednesday night

Two vehicles struck and killed a female pedestrian in Mountain View Wednesday night, according to police.

Police said the collision happened around 9:15 p.m. on the 4300 block of Ocean View Boulevard and San Pasqual Street.

According to authorities, a 64-year-old woman named Catalina Torres Velazquez was walking mid-block across Ocean View Boulevard when she was struck by a Nissan Frontier truck driving westbound.

After being hit by the truck, Velazquez careened into the eastbound lanes and was hit by an Acura traveling eastbound, police said.

Velazquez was transported to UCSD Hospital, but was pronounced dead minutes later as a result of her injuries, according to a report released by the medical examiner.

Drugs or alcohol don’t appear to be a factor in this accident, police said.

No further information has been released about the drivers who struck the pedestrian.
