A car traveling across the Tecolote Road Bridge in Bay Park drove into a 20-foot embankment Monday afternoon.

The driver of the car had to be extricated from the car, but was conscious and breathing when authorities arrived to rescue her, according to officials from the San Diego Police Department.

Police provided traffic control on Tecolote Rd. and Morena Blvd. while the rescue team worked to pull the driver from the car.

By about 4:30 p.m., the car was successfully removed from the canyon. Medics were examining her on the scene.
