Sgt. Ian Wiseman, 28, was killed Saturday in a motorcycle accident

An active duty Marine sergeant stationed at Camp Pendleton was killed in a motorcycle crash in Oceanside, authorities confirmed Sunday.

According to a report released by the medical examiner’s office, 28-year-old Camp Pendleton Marine Sgt. Ian Wiseman was killed around 2 a.m. Saturday while riding his motorcycle on El Camino Real just north of Skyline Drive.

Wiseman was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of his motorcycle and veered off the road. He crossed over a raised concrete median and entered the northbound traffic lanes, the report said.

Wiseman then collided head-on with a Volkswagen Passat. He was ejected from his motorcycle and thrown down a 25-foot embankment along Skyline Drive.

Oceanside police confirmed Wiseman’s death at the scene due to fatal trauma.

The road was closed for several hours following the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and police have not released further details.
