The 3/5 suffers yet another casualty in Helmand Province.

First Lieutenant William Donnelly IV with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force was killed Thursday.

The 27-year old infantry officer from Picayune, Miss. was killed while conducting dismounted combat operations, according to a Department of Defense news release.

Donnelly was on his first combat deployment.

His personal service awards include the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and Afghanistan Campaign Medal, according to the release.
