San Diego County sheriff's deputies were looking for two suspects in the carjacking and beating of a taxi cab driver in Lemon Grove.

Just after 1:30 a.m. Monday, the driver picked up two men at North Avenue and Olive Street and drove them several blocks to a spot near Lemon Grove Avenue and State Route 94.

The driver told deputies one of the subjects hit him on the head with the butt of a black semi-automatic handgun.

As the driver and suspect wrestled over the gun, the other passenger allegedly began hitting the driver with his fist according to officials.

The driver fell out of the cab and one of the two suspects kicked him in the head before driving away in the cab.

The cabbie called 911 and was treated on the scene for minor injuries.

Deputies were searching for the suspects in the red and silver taxi.
