CHP to Investigate Deadly Golf Cart Accident

A Fallbrook man died after a fall from a golf cart at the Pala Mesa Golf Resort. Now, the California Highway Patrol said it has opened an investigation into the death as part of procedures involving any accident involving a vehicle, according to a published report.

Greg Lypps, 41, Was riding on the back of the cart when he stood up, slipped and fell face-first onto a concrete surface according to our media partners the North County Times. Lypps was taken to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido where he was declared clinically dead the following day, the paper reported.

Now, the CHP has launched an investigation into the accident because the death involved a vehicle.

Since the accident happened Jan. 17, the lapse in time has altered how the CHP can handle the investigation, including questioning key witnesses, such as the suspected driver of the golf cart, Conner Cox, 18, and the other passenger riding with Lypps, Richard Cox, 44, Officer Eric Newbury told the paper.
