CHP Ammo Recalled by HQ

California Highway Patrol Officers in Oceanside boxed up and shipped off ammunition to state headquarters after a safety warning that some of the rounds may be defective.

All officers followed a directive issued by the state and turned in any "Golden Saber" .40-caliber shells they were carrying, according to our media partners the North County Times.

CHP spokesperson Jaime Coffee told the paper that rounds that reportedly misfired were being used and training and that the rounds were not a threat to officer safety.

The ammunition will be shipped to the CHP academy for inspection and use in training according to Coffee.
