San Diego police are investigating a violent sexual assault in Barrio Logan

San Diego police are investigating the violent sexual assault of a public transit passenger in Barrio Logan.

Police say a 31-year-old woman had just gotten off the bus near the corner of Sampson and Logan around 8 p.m. Monday when she was knocked to the ground.

Two men approached the victim from behind and threw a jacket over her head moments before the attack police said.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction. Police don't have a suspect description. They're hoping anyone with information will come forward.

San Diego police are investigating another attack involving a public transit stop.

The earlier incident happened Sunday morning at the Lincoln Park trolley station.

In that case police say an 18-year old woman was waiting for the trolley when the suspect approached her and then sexually assaulted her.

Officials say the two attacks are not believed to be related.
