Several people were loaded into ambulances after an accident involving an SUV and a Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) bus on a Chula Vista street.

Chula Vista police and firefighters responded to East H Street and Paseo Del Rey around 7:20 a.m.

An SUV with a crumpled hood was parked behind the MTS bus near bus stop.

The bus was parked and picking up passengers when the SUV rear-ended it, officials said.

The driver of the SUV was transported with minor injuries.

Twenty of the bus passengers were also transported to two local Chula Vista hospitals –Scripps and Sharp .

Emergency personnel removed passengers from the bus on back boards. Some of the injured were placed on the sidewalk outside the bus while others were loaded into waiting ambulances.

There were seven ambulances called to the scene.
