Brutally Beaten Elderly Woman Thanks Hero

A woman whose kidnapping case grabbed a lot of attention for its brutality got a chance on Wednesday to thank the officer who saved  her life.

Sandy Vinge's speech was part of an awards ceremony for local law enforcement officers who helped recover stolen vehicles. The Auto Theft Advisory Committee's 19th annual awards show was held at The Prado in Balboa Park.

Marc Snelling, one of the officers being honored at the ceremony pulled over a stolen car in December  with Vinge in the trunk.

"All I can say is that I appreciate people in law enforcement so much, and Marc Snelling is just so special, and he saved my life, so he's my hero," Vinge said.

Vinge's doctor said he believed she had just four hours to live when she was found by Stanley.
