Firefighters are battling a fire that has burned about 100 acres of dense brush in De Luz, just west of Temecula, and forced nearby businesses to evacuate.

Riverside County Fire department spokeswoman Jody Hagemann says the fire started about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. She says it burned in steep, dense terrain and was being fanned by about 15 mph winds.

More than 350 firefighters, three helicopters and four air tankers responded, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. About 75 to 100 acres burned.

Several businesses west of Temecula have been evacuated.
