Roblar Fire Burns on Camp Pendleton

The so-called "Roblar Fire" was not threatening any structures.

A brush fire that sparked on Camp Pendleton Thursday has scorched 2,000 acres in less than 24 hours.

The Roblar Fire seemed to have sparked just before 4 p.m.

As of 6:30 p.m., it was burning at 300 acres at the northern end of base near Roblar Road and Case Springs.

At approximately 8 p.m., the fire had spread to 700 acres and was 20 percent contained.

Then, Camp Pendleton Fire Department updated the acreage at 2,000 acres before midnight.

Early Friday, the base Twitter account said the containment of the fire had dropped from 10 percent before midnight to none as of 6 a.m.

North Comm Fire Department was also on scene assisting.

According to some NBC 7 viewers, the smoke from the fire was visible from the Carlsbad area.

No other information was immediately available.
