Firefighters in Chula Vista knocked down a 2-acre fire Tuesday evening.

The brush fire sparked up in an empty lot at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Discovery Falls Dr. and Crossroads St., according to officials with the Chula Vista Fire Department.

No homes were threatened, but the fire did burn close to a new development area.

By about 8 p.m., the fire was knocked down, and crews were beginning mop-up efforts. Crews from the San Diego Fire Rescue Department assisted Chula Vista firefighters in their efforts.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
