A brush fire burning along northbound Interstate 15 has prompted the closure of two lanes of the freeway.

The fire was first reported around 12:30 p.m. on I-15 just north of Balboa Avenue in Tierrasanta. Several fire truck arrive quickly at the fire, which is burning in dry grass and a small stand of what appears to be eucalyptus trees. One of the city firefighting helicopters is also on the scene.

San Diego Fire Rescue spokesman Maurice Luque said that the blaze had charred about one-half acre, but fire crews appeared to be knocking down the fire quickly, checking its spread. He said no structures were threatened by the fire.
