Brush Fire Came Close to Homes

A brush fire that was threatening structures in Vista has been knocked down, according to firefighters.

The fire was burning near Highway 78 and Sycamore Avenue. It started around 1.05 p.m. and was knocked down in about 35 minutes, according to firefighters.

The blaze burned about three acres, scorching the hillside next to the highway. It burned up to several backyards and at least one shed burned in the fire.

A Sig Alert was issued for the westbound side of the highway and one lane was closed.

There’s no word what caused the fire.
