Bomber Targets PB Business

An entire city block was shut down in Pacific Beach today after a homemade bomb was thrown into a business. What was most troubling to police was what they found after the discovery of the bomb.

When San Diego police officers responded to the 1600 block of Grand Avenue Saturday, they noticed there was a second device in the area.

The owner of the San Diego Ski Jet Rental store arrived to work around 8 a.m. and found the pavement in the parking lot was burnt. He also spotted broken glass scattered around.

The device landed, broke open and blew up but it didn't catch anything on fire.

The second device was described by the arson strike team as a box or bag with wires coming out of it.

Police officers closed off the street for about an hour and a half while the bomb squad destroyed the second device. No suspects have been identified.
