Body Found in Tijuana River Valley May Have Washed Into US From Mexico: SDPD

A body that was found covered in mud and debris south of San Ysidro after what may have been days in the Tijuana River, prompting a cross-border homicide investigation, has been identified.

The San Diego Police Department believes the body of Francisco Pulido-Amaro, 48, a citizen of Mexico, may have pushed across the U.S.-Mexico Border due to recent storm runoff.

The man's body was found on March 14 in the Tijuana River Valley south of the Las Americas Premium Outlets. It was not clear exactly when Pulido-Amaro may have died but SDPD believes he died while in Mexico.

SDPD said, "the man appeared to have been there for some time."

Mexican authorities are being contacted to coordinate an investigation south of the border, police said.

SDPD refused to release details surrounding the circumstances of Pulido-Amaro's death but did say traumatic injuries were found during an autopsy that prompted their homicide investigation.

SDPD and Mexican officials have not been able to locate any of Pulido-Amaro's relatives to inform them of the death.
