The body of a man discovered in a burned out market in Barrio Logan on Monday has been identified.

Derrick Alan Sallee, 45, was found dead inside Andy's Produce near National Avenue and Cesar E Chavez Parkway where the fire broke out just after 7 p.m. Monday.

Flames were shooting into the sky and the air was filled with heavy smoke, said police.

Sallee's cause of death was due to smoke inhalation and second and third degree burns, according to a media release.

Since the fire station is located just next door to the building, response was quick and fire crews had the fire controlled within a half hour.

San Diego Fire completed a primary search of the building and found no other victims.

The cause of the fire is undetermined.
