Bar Beatings After Last Call

A group of men who were refused service Saturday after last call at a City Heights bar beat and kicked patrons as they left, hospitalizing at least three, police said.

The five or six men went into the landmark Tower bar at 4757 University Ave. about 1:55 a.m. and were told by the bartender that last call had ended, San Diego police Sgt. Alan Hayward said.

The men allegedly waited outside for customers and attacked them as they left.

At least three people were taken to hospitals with head injuries, according to Hayward.

One of the suspects was arrested.
