A 4.5-magnitude earthquake that hit two miles north of Banning, Calif., Wednesday morning was felt by some San Diego residents, from North County to downtown.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the quake hit at 6:42 a.m. The epicenter was about six miles from Beaumont, Calif., 22 miles from Palm Springs, Calif., and 26 miles from San Bernardino, according to the USGS. There were no reports of injuries or damages.
In San Diego County, residents reported feeling the rattle in areas like San Marcos, Oceanside, Vista, Carmel Valley, Fallbrook, Del Mar, La Costa, Rancho Penasquitos, Chula Vista, Ramona and even in Santee, as well as the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego and Little Italy. Temecula, Menifee and Winchester residents also reported feeling the earthquake.
Many locals described feeling the sensation of a "jolt" or "rumble" as the small Southern California earthquake struck.
