Crews have cleared the scene and collected an apparent suspicious item found by CalTrans crews Monday afternoon. The device was not deemed hazardous, officials said.
The device was found on the southbound Interstate 5 near 28th Street in Barrio Logan, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officials said.
Crews working in the area found the device just north of the 28th Street off ramp.
Officials requested a bomb squad to evaluate, which then collected the item and cleared the scene.
No other information was immediately available.
