The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for a man who attemped to kidnap an 8 year old girl at the beach. NBC 7s Brandi Powell reports.

The child told deputies from the Encinitas station that she was at the beach when a thin man with short black hair and tattoos covering his entire right arm approached her.

Deputies were called to the 500-block of South Sierra Avenue but the child said she was at the beach at the time of the incident.

Detectives conducted a follow up investigation and located witnesses to the incident. An eye witness account of the time the girl was alleged to have been contacted by the suspect disproved the incident occurred.
