Armed Suspects Strike La Mesa 7-Eleven

Weapons used in early morning robbery

Two suspects armed with semi-automatic handguns robbed a La Mesa 7-Eleven at gunpoint early Tuesday morning, according to the La Mesa Police Department.

The suspects, both male, entered the convenience store at 5650 Baltimore Dr. at around 2:30 a.m. and ordered the clerk to open the cash register. When the clerk didn't move fast enough, one suspect hit the clerk in the face with his handgun.

An undisclosed amount of money and lottery tickets were stolen from the 7-Eleven. The suspects fled the scene on foot and have not been found.

The clerk sustained minor injures and refused medical attention, according to the La Mesa PD.

The first suspect has been described as a black male, between 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall to 6 feet 2 inches tall and a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood closed around his face, long white shirt hanging down under sweatshirt and dark jeans. The suspect was armed with a black-colored handgun. 

The second suspect was described as a black male, between 20 to 25 years old, 6 feet tall to 6 feet 2 inches tall and a medium build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with "San Diego" in white letters on the chest, long white shirt hanging down under sweatshirt and dark jeans. The man was also armed with a black-colored handgun.

A surveillance video will be release by the La Mesa PD later today.
