Armed Robbery and House Fire in Spring Valley

Sheriffs responded to reports of an armed robbery Thursday night in Spring Valley around the same time a home in the area caught fire

Deputies and fire crews responded to an armed robbery and structure fire Thursday night in Spring Valley.

According to authorities, the fire began around 9:10 p.m. in the kitchen of a single-family home at Polaris Dr. and Nereis Dr.

Around the same time, sheriffs responded to reports of an armed robbery in that same area involving a suspect described by deputies as a black male, measuring 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighing 200-pounds.

The suspect was armed with a handgun, according to deputies.

Authorities searched the area for the suspect while fire crews contained the structure fire.

At this time, it does not appear the armed robbery was related to the house fire.

Some witnesses believed the robbery may be tied to some sort of medical marijuana delivery gone wrong.
