Armed Suspect Targets El Cajon 7-Eleven

A suspect demanded cash from a clerk at a 7-Eleven near Jamacha Road early Saturday morning

Sheriffs are searching for a suspect accused of robbing an El Cajon 7-Eleven early Saturday morning.

According to sheriffs, the armed robbery happened at a 7-Eleven convenience store on the corner of Jamacha Road and Chase Avenue.

Sgt. James Blanton said a clerk was alone in the store when the suspect entered and demanded money from the cash register.

Blanton said the clerk complied and then locked himself in a back room inside the store to escape the suspect.

The clerk was not injured, according to sheriffs.

Blanton said the suspect was wearing some sort of ski mask during the heist. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sheriffs were unable to locate the suspect immediately following the robbery.
